My Two Week Etsy Experiment

Selling on etsy isn't terribly hard or expensive, its just infrequent and random ;)

A conversation that mentioned Top Sellers (1000 plus) in my glass group got me to thinking. We were talking about how those people are very frequent posters. Think 15- 20 items a day.

And when you consider the saturation on Etsy, especially in the jewelry categories, this makes perfect sense because its staggers you throughout the day.

It is an investment though. Etsy charges 20cents per listing, so you are looking at $3-5 dollars a day depending.

So Ive developed a bit of an experiment, a spreadsheet geeks dream ;)

My two week experiment will involve tracking my sales, store hearts, whether re-listing works and ratio to past sale frequency.I thought it might be something that you fellow etsyians, and capitalists, would enjoy following with me.

I have a ton of stock right now, and a lot of varied price ranges, from jewelry & handmade supplies to plates and winestoppers.
Something for everyone is what I'm hoping for. So Im hoping to cover the etsyland map and see where 2 weeks gets me!

Beginning Thurs March 6rd, I will be listing 15 items a day from 10am - 10pm in an effort to see if there is a link between constant store updates and millions of dollars flowing through!

My schedule is as follows:

10am New Listing
11am Re-listing
12pm:Top & Bottom of Hour
1pm: Middle & Bottom of Hour
2pm: New Listing
3pm: Re-listing
4pm: OFF
5pm: Re-listing
6pm: New Listing
7pm: Top & Bottom of Hour
8pm: Middle & Bottom of Hour
9pm: OFF
10pm: New Listing

I will be keeping the most detailed, daily records of this to see if it works and posting it to this blog for people interested in the outcome.. And I'm not going to be a freak and not leave my house so I can keep this schedule. Just most importantly, 15 a day and I will try my hardest to keep to it for scientific purposes ;)

Actually, if it works, I'm probably going to Costa Rica ;)
Wish me luck!

There is NOTHING more an artist wants then to life from the art they create!

Cheers to that!

Yes, I've seen others do this research in the forums. Actually, you are amazingly organized and business oriented on this. (I wouldn't have thought it through so smartly!). Let us know please what happens.
